Marsh Harbour is the largest settlement in Abaco, with a population of about 4,000. The area offers a large variety of businesses, providing visitors with the best selection of goods and services Abaco has to offer.

There are four grocery stores, a variety of gift shops, straw market, liquor stores, video rentals, jewelry stores, bakeries, bookstores, beauty salons, fishing guides, dive operators, restaurants, art galleries and more.

Restaurants vary from mom and pop style, serving Bahamian cuisine, waterfront eateries, pizza shops, taverns and a more elegant style, as well.

Although it is the largest settlement, it still offers unique getaways with tranquil waterfront and beachfront properties, gazing over the turquoise, crystal clear waters of the sea.

Choose from areas such as Coral Point, Great Cistern, Leisure Lee, Pelican Shores and the private area of Eastern Shores.

Experience snorkeling on Mermaid Reef, with its variety of tropical fish. Taxis are available in Marsh Harbour and automobiles, bicycles and motor scooters can be rented.

These forms of transportation make it possible to get around easily and drive north to Treasure Cay and Cooper&39;s Town or south to Hole in the Wall, Sandy Point, and Cherokee. Marsh Harbour has only one traffic light and it is the only one you will see in Abaco.

The locals often refer to as a landmark, when conveying directions. This area is also a good central location for island hopping with a rental boat. There are several boat rental companies, which offer either motor or sail boats. Albury&39;s Ferry is located here, making it easy for a day trip to Elbow Cay, Great Guana Cay, and Man-O-War Cay, for those who do not wish to rent a boat. There are round-trip fares available on the regular scheduled ferry and special charters may be arranged at any time.
