MEDICAL CARE
It is not difficult to get medical assistance when necessary. The various inns, on-island hosts, caretakers and shopkeepers have both VHF radios and telephones and can contact the doctors at any hour of the day or night. The boater with a VHF will be able to call on channel 16 for referral and/or immediate assistance. Remember a “May Day” call is only to be used when there is imminent danger of loss of life. For routine care the local clinics are open at certain times and can also open when emergencies occur. The clinics are staffed by physicians or nurses.
